Near Reno, Nevada, construction crews are starting a project along Interstate 80, which is the most prominent road in the region for tourism. Even this late into the spring season, the Sierra Nevada area is receiving occasional snowstorms. In order to prevent possible delays at the start of the construction season, crews will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters. According to the Reno Gazette Journal, Interstate 80 eastbound was reduced from three to two lanes near the heart of downtown Reno on the evening of May 31, and this pattern will continue throughout the construction process. Next Monday, the westbound route will also be downsized to two lanes in the same area. During the late night hours, signs will encourage drivers to take detours in order to avoid the extensive work. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, the energy efficiency of infrared heaters offers enough warmth to keep workers comfortable on frosty nights. Propane heaters, on the other hand, cost as much as three dollars per hour to operate. |
