Construction crews are currently in the initial phase of a project expanding Interstate 80 from four to six lanes between Lincoln and Omaha. The project is expected to be completed by late 2013. In order to keep crews comfortable and meet the deadline, crews will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters.

According to the Daily Reporter, the stretch of road between the state’s two largest cities has received a lot of construction in the past few years and commuters will finally be able to drive on a smooth road when this $440 million project wraps up. Once this venture is completed, construction crews will be able to work on other sections of the road, including the gap between Lincoln and the Platte river that remain unfinished.

At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, the energy efficiency of infrared heaters is superior to alternative sources. For example, propane heaters typically cost as much as three dollars per hour to operate and require tanks that constantly have to be replaced.
