Heat Storm - Outdoor Infrared Heaters

Outdoor dining approvals in New York highlight the need for infrared heaters

07.3.11

In Bedford, New York, three restaurants have received permission to implement outdoor dining. The town planning board approved these prior requests, allowing Panera Bread, Salsa Fresca and the Bedford Bagel & Bakery to add patios to their establishments. In order to keep the customers coming during the off-season, restaurant managers will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters.

According to Bedford-Katonah Patch, three other restaurants who petitioned for outdoor dining were told to come back to the board later with more specific details. However, the board is generally in favor of local al fresco dining establishments, especially since the approvals are usually received in a timely manner. There are several other dining facilities that have been granted permission to incorporate outdoor dining in the past few years, including the Deer Park Tavern and McDonald’s.

Infrared heaters can keep patrons comfortable during the coldest of temperatures, at an affordable cost of less than 14 cents per hour for restaurant managers. Propane heaters, on the other hand, typically cost about three dollars per hour to successfully operate.
