In Romeoville, Illinois, residents have been opting for al fresco dining, and village board members are taking new options into consideration. A local restaurant known as Mickey’s Grille & Pub is the primary benefactor of new ordinances that will allow outdoor dining. In order to maintain a steady flow of customers during the off-season, restaurant managers will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters. According to the Romeoville Patch, the village board agenda is deciding whether or not to give Mickey’s Grille & Pub a special use permit for outdoor seating. The owner of the establishment is planning to build a patio along the Budler Road eatery. Under the new proposal, the dining area will contain 10 tables. However, there will be no toleration of outdoor music or smoking, and the patio will be closed at 10 p.m. With the energy efficiency of infrared heaters, at a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, restaurant managers can keep customers comfortable without producing a financial strain. Other sources, such as propane heaters, cost about three dollars per hour to operate. |
