In Cedar Lake, Indiana, two establishments have been approved by the Board of Zoning Appeals and the town council for outdoor dining. With its proximity to the suburbs of Chicago, the Cedar Lake community is known to attract city dwellers with a knack for leisure. In order to maintain a steady flow of business during the off-season, restaurant managers and shopkeepers will be wise to use the targeted warmth of infrared heaters. Among these two businesses are the Barajas Mexican grocery store and the Cocco restaurant, which has been given permission to serve alcohol on the patio in accordance with the building’s existing liquor license, according to Chicago Sun-Times. Teresita Barajas plans to convert a building across the street from her grocery store into an indoor dining area, and would like to include a patio area in front of the new building. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, the energy efficiency of infrared heaters can keep patrons warm for a cost that’s cheaper than conventional portable heaters. Propane devices typically cost about three dollars per hour. |
