In East Haven, Connecticut, construction on the Maple Street Bridge is showing progress. Mayor April Capone has recently told the contractors that they have until the middle of this summer to complete the project. In order to hit the deadline and prevent possible weather delays, construction crews will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters. According to East Haven Patch, Mayor Capone gave the contractor the deadline of July 15 before financial penalties are handed down. The crews have been replacing the old and inadequate bridge with a wider design that will also reduce flooding by increasing the flow rate of the Farm River. Because of a major sewer trunk line that runs parallel to the river, crews had to make the necessary adjustments to the bridge design – which is one reason why the project was so delayed to begin with. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, infrared heaters can keep workers comfortable with more energy efficiency than other sources. Propane heaters typically cost about three dollars per hour, and they’re more of a hassle to operate because of the 20 gallon tanks that have to be replaced every 12-to-16 hours. |
