Heat Storm - Outdoor Infrared Heaters

Outdoor dining in upstate New York fosters the use of infrared heaters

06.27.11

In upstate New York, the Katonah Restaurant has received approval from the town council to keep tables outside for patio dining. This conclusion will remain in effect for at least the next five years, when the council will decide whether or not to extend the time limit. In order to keep customers comfortable and maintain a steady flow of business, restaurant managers will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters.

According to the Bedford-Katonah Patch, the restaurant will be able to incorporate outdoor seating between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. for up to 24 patrons. The council’s decision to allow the continuance of outdoor dining was because the restaurant has received hardly any complaints in the past few years. The patio presented no problems for pedestrians or the area as a whole.

At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, the energy efficiency of infrared heaters can save restaurant managers a tremendous amount of money. Propane heaters, on the other hand, cost at least three dollars per hour to maintain.
