Maine warship construction fosters the need for infrared heaters

In the coastal town of Bath, Maine, shipbuilders are focused on constructing a massive stealth ship that will cost vast sums of money. The DDG-1000 Zumwalt ship costs more than $1.1 billion, and it will be known as the USS Michael Murphy when it’s completed. In order to protect themselves from the bitter cold of coastal Maine, shipbuilders will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters.

According to the Associated Press, this vessel is the largest warship ever built in the town of Bath. There are two other Zumwalts in the works at the shipyard, but the Navy hasn’t yet signed off on them. All three ships are needed for Bath Iron Works to avoid layoffs and retain all of its 5,500 employees.

At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, the energy efficiency of infrared heaters is crucial for companies who have strict financial restrictions. Heat Storm devices are superior to alternative sources, such as infrared heaters – which typically cost more than three dollars per hour to operate on a daily basis.
