In Harrison, New York, town officials are deciding on a proposal that will create a massive new recreational center. Although this new outdoor activity hub will cater mainly to athletes, there will also be bistros and outdoor patios. To keep hungry athletes warm after they’ve worked up a sweat in chilly weather, supervisors at the recreational complex will benefit from the energy efficiency of infrared heaters. According to The Journal News, the site plan includes the demolition of the 38-year-old building and the construction of a new attractive facility of about 209,000 square feet. The project is proposed by a Minnesota based company known as Life Time Fitness that operates a large amount of recreational centers in over 20 states around the country. These complexes usually include tennis courts, racquetball courts, spas and outdoor bistros. The use of infrared heaters can keep these facilities up and running throughout the colder months of the year. The targeted warmth of these units will not be disrupted by harsh winds and chilly temperatures. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, Heat Storm devices can operate at levels that are superior to other sources like propane heaters, which cost about three dollars per hour to operate. |
