Heat Storm - Outdoor Infrared Heaters

Outdoor dining approval in Ohio promotes the use of infrared heaters

In Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the West End Bistro has been given permission by city council members to offer a patio for outdoor dining. Two tables will be set up on each side of the paved walkway, allowing the restaurant to attract a new base of customers. In order to keep patrons coming during the off-season, managers and owners will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters.

According to the Chagrin Solo Sun, the owner of the West End Bistro applied to the Board of Zoning Appeals to give his patio more space. As there is only about 11 feet between the building and the sidewalk, the council approved the variance request to create more space. Additionally, for restaurant owners to receive permission to serve alcohol on the patio, there must be a fence between the public sidewalk and dining area.

At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, infrared heaters will cost restaurant managers less to operate, whereas other sources like propane heaters might cost as much as three dollars per hour. Not only this, but it’s more time consuming to have 20 gallon propane tanks to replace on a regular basis.
