New Mexico highway construction necessitates the use of infrared heaters

Along U.S. 84/285, which runs north to south through central New Mexico, construction is finally winding down after years of work. Although many phases of the extensive project have already been completed, there are still a lot of finishing touches to be applied. In order to avoid weather delays caused by unseasonable coldness in the foothills of the Rockies, crews will need the targeted warmth of outdoor infrared heaters.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, the unfinished items include inspections, fencing, landscaping, striping and a new intersection on the south side of Arroyo Seco. This project is partially funded by federal stimulus money, and the Department of Transportation invested several million dollars on multiple occasions to fund enhancements in various locations. To make major highways safer for the public, the spending is well worth it.

Infrared heaters provide the energy efficiency that’s needed to meet the project’s deadline in the most inexpensive manner. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, Heat Storm devices are superior to alternative sources like propane heaters.
