In Portland, Maine, there is a proposal to engage in a $100 million development project on Thompson’s Point to create more facilities and scenery. Construction crews are expecting to receive the permit by the end of the year, allowing demolition work to get started in nine industrial buildings during the winter months. These crews will need the directional warmth of infrared heaters in order to maintain a level of comfort, especially if the upcoming winter is anything like the last one. According to the Morning Sentinel, this development project is expected to generate 1,230 jobs and support 455 steady maintenance jobs after the construction has ended. The first phase will include two office buildings, a luxury hotel, massive parking garage, restaurants, a music hall and a venue that is capable of featuring sporting events, live concerts and exhibits. Infrared heaters are essential for the sake of energy efficiency, especially since they cost less than 14 cents per hour – whereas other sources, like propane heaters, can cost up to three dollars per hour to operate. |
