The Japanese disaster has not swayed the decisions of Iowa politicians, as the state’s House of Representatives has agreed to the incorporation of a regional nuclear power plant. After more than five hours of debate, the new bill was passed by a vote of 68-30. If and when the construction proceeds, crews will need the energy efficiency of infrared heaters in order to save time and money. The potential project is a locally controversial issue, as many legislative members requested at least a year of studies before implementing such a bill. According to the Sioux City Journal, House members offered several amendments that required independent reviews of Iowa’s energy demand, as well as the possible consequences of a new nuclear facility. Although the cost of the construction is projected to be at least $1 billion, it will create 500 much-needed jobs throughout the state. Crews will need the directional warmth of infrared heaters to protect themselves from the harsh winters of the upper Midwest and avoid delays. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, Heat Storm devices are superior to alternative sources like propane heaters. |
