In Madison, Wisconsin, food cart vendors are flocking to the downtown and UW-Madison campus areas in order to serve the broader customer base that comes with the spring season. Although a usual occurrence, residents agree that the local food cart movement has never been as prominent as it is so far this year. Since there will most likely be more cold snaps before summer, vendors will benefit from the targeted warmth of infrared heaters. According to Madison.com, a record number of 39 vendors have hit the streets, which shatters the previous record of 26 carts in 1997. In fact, these simple take-out attractions have become so popular throughout the city that new food cart owners are having a difficult time finding unused spots. “I don’t really know if this street food boom is kind of a fad or not,” Street Vending Coordinator Warren Hansen told the news source. “But I know it’s really popular now.” In order to stay open longer and endure colder temperatures, food cart vendors would be better off with infrared heaters, which would cost them less than 14 cents per hour to operate without having to replace a tank – unlike propane heaters. |
