Heat Storm - Outdoor Infrared Heaters

Idaho road construction fosters the need for infrared heaters

In Boise, Idaho, crews are working on the expansion of Highway 16, which will eventually become a fast-paced four lane freeway stretching from from Interstate 84 to State Street. These crews are currently improving inconsistencies in the existing road by installing new pavement. As the weather can be unpredictably cold during any season in the Rocky Mountains, construction supervisors will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters.

Motorists will be able to commute at higher speeds once the highway construction is completed, especially with elevated bridges rather than narrow single-lane roads. According to KTVB News, this new road is important to the residents of southwestern Idaho, although the cost of almost $400 million adds a tremendous strain to state finances.

Crews expect to have the project completed by late 2013. In order to meet that deadline, they could use the energy efficiency and cost effectiveness of infrared heaters. Other sources, such as propane heaters, are less effective and more expensive to maintain at a cost of at least three dollars per hour. Infrared heaters cost less than 14 cents per hour, making them superior to alternative sources.
