Alaska Governor’s Mansion renovations stress the need for infrared heaters

In Juneau, Alaska, the Governor’s Mansion is deteriorating due to the extreme weather over the years. Construction crews are working to renovate the building structurally and replace fixtures that were installed during the 1930s. These workers will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters in order to battle the fluctuating temperatures of coastal Alaska and meet their deadline.

According to the Juneau Empire, the project began on April 4th, and the renovations involve stripping down the exterior paint, making repairs and repainting. The deck was widened during the ’30s, allowing crews to install additional wooden columns. As these columns cracked after years of erosion, water seeped inside and caused them to look older than they actually are. They are now being cleaned and sealed in order to return them to their original appeal.

In order to save money and time, supervisors of the project are better off with infrared heaters, which are more energy efficient than sources like propane heaters. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, workers can experience the comfort of Heat Storm devices without worrying about taking the time to replace tanks and other components.
