Federal stimulus money is being used to add a second line to the high-speed railroad that runs between Saratoga Springs and Ballston Spa, New York. Due to the productivity of this expansion, there will be an opening of 158 construction jobs in Saratoga County. Crews will need the directional warmth and cost effectiveness of infrared heaters in order to battle the chilly temperatures of the Adirondacks. According to The Post-Star, the goals of the construction project are to relieve congestion, improve reliability and enhance the travel time for passengers. Currently, there is only one rail line, which means that Amtrak passengers have to wait 30 minutes in order to hop on the next train. “There’s no question that this is a vital step for the development of high-speed rail in New York,” U.S. Representative, Louise Slaughter, told the news source. “It’s a down payment on our ultimate goal: to create one of the largest international economic trade corridors in the world.” Infrared heaters are much more efficient than propane heaters, which usually cost at least three dollars per hour to maintain. Heat Storm devices cost about 14 cents per hour, which makes them a more logical approach for construction crews who are on strict deadlines. |
