As a rebuke to the horrific attacks that were carried out on September 11th, construction crews are adamantly working to rebuild New York City’s World Trade Center. Planners are hoping that the new design will be in its final construction phase by the upcoming ten year anniversary. In order to avoid delays as a result of the cold Manhattan weather, crews will need the targeted warmth of infrared heaters. Located on the northwest wing of the former World Trade Center site, the new building is dubbed the Freedom Tower. According to the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center, this unique design will gradually transition to eight triangular patterns in order to form a precise octagon directly in the center of the building. There will be an observation deck 1,368 feet above the ground, providing breathtaking of Lower Manhattan at the same height as the former towers. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, infrared heaters can allow construction crews to remain comfortable at the heights of Freedom Tower. They are much more energy efficient and cost effective than propane heaters, which typically cost about three dollars per hour on average to operate. |
