Heat Storm - Outdoor Infrared Heaters

Interstate construction delays necessitate the use of infrared heaters

06.1.11

In New York, the construction of Interstate 287 is experiencing major delays due to design problems and accounting mistakes that may end up costing millions. The project has already been going on for more than a decade, and there’s still no light at the end of the tunnel. In order to avoid further delays, crews will need the affordable comfort of infrared heaters.

According to The Journal News, taxpayers have spent more than $63 million per mile of construction, which is double the amount of average interstate projects throughout the northeastern United States. There is a faulty billing practice that is still in place, allowing planners to compensate for unscheduled work by making requests for additional funding. This seems to be the reason for the $544 million that this project has recently accumulated without producing the results.

The targeted warmth of infrared heaters would help the problem because they’re more energy efficient than other devices, costing the average user less than 14 cents per hour. Alternative sources, such as propane heaters, usually cost about three dollars per hour.
