Heat Storm - Outdoor Infrared Heaters

Ohio bridge construction fosters the need for infrared heaters

05.31.11

In Warren County, Ohio, construction is in progress underneath the state’s tallest bridge. Because the work is occurring below the bridge, motorists can commute to their daily jobs or homes without being disrupted. Crews will need infrared heaters in order to stay warm and comfortable during the cold seasons of the Great Lakes region, especially since most of the work is handled at night.

According to the Middletown Journal, the the Ohio Department of Transportation will spend approximately $170 million this year in Butler and Warren counties. The goal of this project is to build two bridges, one going northbound and another going southbound in order to accommodate a future Interstate 71 expansion. Because all the concrete pouring is taking place at night, daytime traffic will not be affected. Officials claim that the old bridge can’t handle super-loads, but the new construction will remedy that problem.

Since expensive projects like this can’t afford too many delays, the targeted warmth of infrared heaters will keep idle tools from freezing in the early morning. Also, Heat Storm devices cost less than 14 cents per hour to operate, which makes them more energy efficient and cost effective than any other source.
