Construction has officially begun in Madison, Wisconsin, where a medical research facility is being added to the hospital grounds. With a fall of 2013 deadline, crews working on this nine-story tower will need infrared heaters during frequent lake-effect cold snaps, especially since the winds are stronger at greater heights. Worth $134.8 million, according to the Wisconsin State Journal, the new tower will have a capacity of 1,700 researchers and lab workers in fields ranging from cancer studies to brain disorders. Governor Scott Walker is committing $67.4 million in state funding for the project, while the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health will pay the remainder. “It [researchers working in the new tower without being separated by walls] breaks down the traditional barriers between basic science, clinical science and public health science,” The medical school’s dean, Dr. Robert Golden, told the news source. The targeted warmth of infrared heaters will help workers remain focused on their critical daily tasks. At a cost of less than 14 cents per hour, Heat Storm devices provide more energy efficiency than sources like propane heaters. |
