The construction of an elementary school in Plummer, Idaho, is experiencing delays due to the torrential rains that have pummeled the region for several consecutive days. After voters rejected bonds several times, the state supported the Plummer-Worley School District with funding to get the project started. Infrared heaters have the ability to keep the workers warm while experiencing prolonged exposure to the cold rain, preventing serious conditions such as hypothermia. Now that the unfavorable weather has literally dampened the project, NWCN reports that crews on the site are constantly working to pump water from the site in order to build the foundation and walls. For the time being, 260 students are in portable classrooms, and construction costs are steadily rising. Infrared heaters are much more convenient than other sources of warmth, such as propane heaters. A typical propane tank can function for just 12 to 16 hours before it needs to be changed, causing supervisors to constantly waste money and time to maintain their systems. Heat Storm devices cost less than 14 cents per hour while offering directional warmth, which enables workers to keep shelters warm for the sake of supplies. |
