Lexington, North Carolina, is the famous site of one of the world’s largest barbecue festival, which occurs every year in late October. Those who frequent the event know that the temperatures aren’t always pleasant. This never seems to effect the volume of barbecue enthusiasts, but it does tend to limit the amount of time that families spend at the popular event. There is definitely more money to be made for festival organizers with the application of outdoor infrared heaters. This event is so publicly renowned that the Amtrak that passes through Lexington makes regular hour-long stops on these particular dates so that passengers can sample the sumptuous pork on their way to other destinations. In order to keep patrons at the festival for a longer period of time, many venue owners make fires in metal barrels – which are only effective when people are huddling right in front of them. Outdoor infrared heaters provide a targeted source of heat that actually warms objects rather than the air, and even the harshest of winds don’t disrupt the distribution of comfort. Also, other means of heat – such as barrels – cause air pollution within several miles of the site. |
